Exploring the Nonlinear Effect of Intellectual Capital on Financial Performance: Evidence from Listed Shipping Companies in China

Intellectual capital (IC) is reckoned as a significant driving force of competitive advantage and financial sustainability any organization. The study’s objective to explore the nonlinear effect IC its components on performance (FP) China’s listed shipping companies over six-year period (2014–2019). modified Value Added Coefficient (MVAIC) model used systematically assess IC. empirical results show an inverted U-shaped relationship between aggregate FP (measured through return assets). Regarding components, human, relational, innovation capitals have with FP, while quadratic structural not significant. In addition, physical has FP. This study will offer some new insights for corporate managers improve firms’ by effectively utilizing their resources.
